M. Patricia Casey passed away at her home in Melrose, on June 7, 2008. She was 78 years of age. Mrs. Casey was born and raised in Somerville, graduated from St. Catherine High School and received her Masters in Sociology from UMass Boston. She lived in Arlington and Reading, Florida for 20 years and the past year in Melrose. Patricia was a homemaker, had worked as a nurses assistant and at MIT in the Medical Terminology Department prior to raising her 8 children. Mrs. Casey was an excellent water skier in her younger days and she loved to travel. Patricia was the wife of the late Joseph P. Casey and former wife of George E. Carafotes of Somerville. Mother of Marygail Ranaldi of Reading, Ann Dexter of Boston, Colleen E. Carafotes of Melrose, George Carafotes of NY, John Carafotes of Somerville, Kelly Hull of Chicago IL, Caroline Payne of Somerville and Michael Carafotes of Chicago IL. Sister of Eileen Casaletto of Stoneham. Sister-in-law of Mary Hosford of Wakefield. Grandmother of Deirdre, Justin, Rachel, Michael, Candice, Dilila, Jennifer & Robert. Great grandmother of Ellis, Michael & Elana. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday June 28th at 12:00PM. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, at 12:30PM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation Saturday morning from 11:00AM-12PM. Interment will be private.
