Mabel A. (Rowe) Tryder passed away at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham on September 7, 2015. She was 98 years of age. Mabel was born in Charlestown on September 2, 1917 to the late John & Mary (Twoomey) Rowe. She was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School, Class of 1935. Mabel lived in Melrose for 30 years, Reading for 25 years and the past 5 years in Stoneham. Mrs. Tryder worked as a sales clerk at Jordan Marsh for 10 years and loved working as a receptionist at the Medical Building at 8 Porter Street in Melrose. She was a great sports enthusiast, enjoyed following her son's sports careers and was a longtime supporter of the Melrose High School hockey & football boosters. Mabel was the wife of the late William F. Tryder. Mother of Barbara Steckevicz & her husband Steven of Nashua, NH, Charles R. Tryder & his wife Jane of Melrose and the late William F. Tryder Jr. and the late Richard C. Tryder. Grandmother of William Tryder of ID, Brett Tryder & his wife Gina of NH, Carolyn Pickering & her husband Troy of NH, Christie Tryder of CO, Kelly Schupak & her husband Ben of NJ, Michael Steckevicz of NH, Conor & Megan Tryder of Melrose. Sister of Frank Rowe of Marton Mills, Mae Coughlin of Norwood and the late Eleanor Safrine, William Rowe & John Rowe. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren and several nieces & neohews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday morning September 11, 2015 @ 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10:00AM.
