Obituary

Margaret E. (MacQuarrie) Kelliher "Mardie" of Cambridge, formerly of Melrose, died on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Youville House in Cambridge. She was 97 years old. Born on December 4, 1914 in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Marguerite (White) MacQuarrie. Raised in Chelsea and Everett, she was a 1932 graduate of Everett High School. Ms. Kelliher worked for Transition of Wakefield for 6 years and then as a Bookkeeper for the Teamsters Local 42 in Lynn for 20 years before her retirement. She enjoyed needlepoint, ceramics, square dancing, antiquing, wallpapering, traveling with the Silver Seniors and visits to the Milano Senior Center in Melrose. Mardie was a very artistic and creative woman. She lived at the Fuller House in Melrose for 5 years and Sheffield Heights of Saugus for 15 years. She was the devoted wife of the late Albert P. Kelliher with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Richard P. Kelliher & his wife Joan of Melrose & Katherine A. O'Donnell & her husband Joseph of Belmont. Cherished grandmother of Janet Elwell & her husband Bill, Paul Kelliher & his wife Linnea, all of Wakefield, Kate O'Donnell & Casey O'Donnell, both of Belmont & the late Joey O'Donnell. Great Grandmother of Scott & Matthew Elwell & Allida & Alexa Kelliher all of Wakefield. Sister of the late Robert MacQuarrie, Annamae Anderson & Francis MacQuarrie. Sister-in-law of Elizabeth MacQuarrie & her late husband Charles of Melrose. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, October 17th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday morning from 9-11AM. Interment is private. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mardie's memory may be made to the Joey Fund c/o Cystic Fibrosis, 220 N. Main St., Natick, MA 01760.
