Margaret E. (Cotter) Murphy, of Melrose, formerly of Charlestown, died at the Plainville Healthcare Center in Plainville, CT on Oct. 20, 2005 at the age of 97. Margaret was born in Somerville, raised in Charlestown where she lived until 1978 before moving to Melrose. She was a homemaker, who also worked as a Telephone Operator for New England Telephone Co. and in the office at the Boston Navy Shipyard in Charlestown before her retirement. Margaret was a member of the Plainville Senior Center in Plainville, CT. for the last several months. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Murphy. Loving mother of John Murphy & his wife MaryAnn of Gloucester, Mary Carlson of Nashua, NH, Margaret McNeill & her husband James of Plainville, CT, Catherine Coleman & her husband Francis of Portsmouth, NH, & the late Thomas J. Murphy. Cherished sister of the late Mary Reavey. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W.
