Margaret Dolores Russell, of Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away on January 29, 2024. She was born on May 7, 1948, in Wales, England, to Len and Elsbeth Kemp. Margaret was the oldest of three children and was predeceased by her parents, sister, Brenda Hulse, and survived by her sister Sue Meyler and her husband Jason.
Margaret was a beloved wife to Joseph E. Russell for 53 years. Together, they raised four children: Exsandra Elcewicz and her husband Ray: Elisa Di Trapano: Charles Russel and his wife Kristen: Robert Russell and his wife Katie. She was a loving Oma to Raymond Elcewicz and his wife Shannon: Kaylie Elcewicz: Nick Elcewicz: Jaxon Elcewicz: RJ Di Trapano, Indigo Di Trapano: Aiden Russell: Morgan Russell: Riley Russell and Jordan Russell. Margaret was also a cherished Uroma to Joey Elcewicz and Teddy Elcewicz. In addition, she was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews.
Margaret's life was filled with joy and meaningful experiences. She dedicated herself to her family and community. She found solace and inspiration during vacations with her family on many occasions around the world. Margaret was also a gifted seamstress and quilter, an in-home daycare provider that touched countless kids and parents lives. Her kind and generous spirit led her to open her home and heart to many, regardless of her own situation. The only thing that came close to matching her love for family was her love for sports; Red Sox/Patriots or any tennis match on tv.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 2, 2024 at Gately Funeral Home, located at 79 West Foster Street, Melrose, Massachusetts, from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Margarets memory. The location and date is yet to be determined.
