Margaret E. (Kiley) Tivnan passed away at the Emeritus at Cherry Hill in Danvers, on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. She was 90 years of age. Margaret was born on the Kiley Farm in Melrose on October 29,1920 to the late Michael & Lillian (Higgins) Kiley. She was raised in Melrose, attended Winthrop Elementary School, and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1938 and from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. Margaret worked as a secretary for several years at the G.E. River Works, where she met her husband Edward. She worked at the Jordan Marsh Company for over 25 years, starting in the gift wrap & shipping department in Malden and then in sales at the Burlington store for many years. Mrs. Tivnan was a lifelong resident of Melrose and spent summers at the family cottage on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, NH since 1945. Margaret cherished the times spent with her family at the lake, she loved the water, her home and yard on Garland St. in Melrose and going shopping. Mrs. Tivnan was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Margaret was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Edward A. Tivnan. Loving mother of Mary-Jane Bergman & her husband Edward of Canterbury, NH, Ann Nelson & her husband Nels of Peabody, Jean Tivnan-Pelletier of Kennebunk, ME and Edward W. Tivnan & his wife Patricia of Amesbury. Sister of the late Frances Kiely, Dorothy Garipay & Ruth Kiley. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, October 7th, at 8:00AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation Thursday from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
