Obituary

Margaret M. Ward, of Quincy, passed away peacefully at BID Hospital – Milton on February 22, 2025, at 76 years of age.

Born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Ralph F. and Rita C. (Dolan) Ward, she spent her entire life in Quincy. Beloved sister of Laurence F. Ward (Joan) of West Reading PA, Catherine R. Pickett (Robert) of Melrose, and Robert J. Ward of Reading, MA, aunt of 11, great-aunt of 19, great-grand aunt of two. Also sister of the late Marion E. McCarthy and James R. Ward (Joan), and aunt of the late Kellie A. McCarthy.

Peggy was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and Cardinal Cushing College. She worked as a secretary at Longwood Cricket Club and Hillyard Sales Corporation before her 37-year career at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company (later MetLife). Beginning there as a secretary, she later moved to the technical side as an analyst, advancing to Contract Change Specialist before her retirement in 2010. She loved animals, British television, Eddie Izzard (her license plate read "IZZARD"), and trips to Maine, Atlantic Canada, and the British Isles.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00AM-11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.

Interment will be private.
