Marguerite E. (Steele) Sampson-Burnett passed away at Winchester Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Marguerite was born in Medford to the late John & Anna (Casey) Steele, raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. She lived in Medford for many years and worked as the head teller at Medford CoOperative Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1984. After her retirement, she moved to Melrose where she was an active member at St. Mary's Church, a member of the ladies sodality at St. Mary's and the 200 club. Marguerite was president of the Community Associates from 1998-2000; a member of the Melrose Women's Club and a present member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Sampson & Charles E. Burnett. Mother of Frank G. Sampson & his wife Jane of Melrose, Ann Cullerton & her late husband Anthony of Westford, the late John J. Sampson & his wife Catherine of Melrose. Sister of the late Margaret Weatherbee. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. May 12th, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
