Obituary

Maria Antonuccio passed in Melrose, MA on Monday, July 8, at the age of 64.

Maria was born and raised in Winthrop, spending her younger years working at the Singing Cricket and early mornings at the Pizza Center. At age 16 she met the love of her life and late husband, Peter Antonuccio on Winthrop Beach, where their love story began.

Creating a home in Melrose, Maria was a stay-at-home mother early on in her children's lives. She dedicated her life to her children and husband. Her passion for cooking showed through her home cooked meals at dinner every night. While her children were young, she kept her hobbies alive by selling Park Lane, still holding on to the fur coat she earned so many years ago. Her love for people and ability to genuinely connect with others through laughter and love eventually led her to becoming a home health aide. Maria had an undeniable spark about her that made everyone she met instantly feel so special and loved. She was one of the most selfless people, always giving so much to those she loved the most. If you mentioned needing something around Maria, it would be on your doorstep within the week.

Maria spent her summers with her family in Plymouth, MA, on Widgeon Pond. Her favorite thing to do was "take a dip in the pond", and relish in every bit of nature. It wasn't Maria if she didn't find an interestingly shaped rock or piece of wood, that she would then turn into a new home decoration, painted to look like what she saw. Maria took pride in her garden, spending so much of her spring and summer planting and creating her own garden oasis. Her dog Tala Faith was her world and most loyal companion.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Peter Antonuccio. Loving mother of Robert Antonuccio and wife Kathy of Lynn, Joseph Antonuccio and wife Merissa of Raleigh, NC, John Antonuccio and wife Abby of Rowley, Sarah Antonuccio of Melrose, and stepson Peter Antonuccio Jr. and wife Kerri of North Reading. She was predeceased by her brother John Guide, and sister to living Julianne Hennebury and husband Joseph of Quincy, Nanette Guide of Winthrop, and Christine Alviti of Melrose. Devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren — Robert and Giuliana of Lynn, Benjamin, William, and James of Raleigh, NC, Alice of Rowley, Gabrielle D'Entremont of New Jersey, and Olivia of North Reading.
