Marie E. (Campbell) Blanche, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on May 31St at the age of 83. Marie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia & was raised in Somerville. She graduated from Charlestown High School in 1939 & worked for the Schraft's Candy Company for over 30 years and was also a shop steward for many years. Marie was the wife of the late P. Albert Blanche who pitched for the Boston Braves. Mother of Dennis J. Zugibe and his wife Marie of Huguenot, NY and Harvey A. Zugibe. Sister of Alec Campbell of CA, Harvey Campbell of Charlestown and the late Roddy Campbell, Howard Campbell, Edith Campbell, Sonny Campbell, and Danny Butts. Grandmother of Anna Zugibe, Marion Somarelli, Jill Cassas and Jason Zugibe, all of NY. Also survived by 6 Great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday June 5th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9PM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
