Obituary

Marie Elizabeth (Hession) Casey passed away on August 10, 2010 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield. She was 76 years of age. Marie was born in Somerville on March 23, 1934 to the late Thomas & Catherine (Keena) Hession. She was raised in Somerville, was a 1st generation city kid and loved the City of Somerville. Mrs. Hession worked as a certified nursing assistant for the Fitch Home on Lake St. in Melrose for over 20 years. Her main focus in life was raising her 4 boys and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Marie was a very social person, she was a big walker, she loved Elvis, dogs and was proud of her Irish heritage. Mrs. Casey has been a resident of Melrose for 33 years, was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose, was a volunteer at the New England Memorial Hospital for several years and a former member of the Irish American Club in Malden. Marie was the loving mother of Joseph Casey of Medford, Thomas Casey of Tewksbury, John Casey & his wife Catherine of Tewksbury & the late Francis Casey, Jr. & his wife Diane of Billerica. Also survived by 12 grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, August 13th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in memory of Marie will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Family, relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, 01701.
