Obituary

Marie A. (McHale)(Ferdinand) Winch, of Melrose, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on April 28, 2014 at the age of 85. Marie was born & raised in South Boston and attended South Boston schools. She resided in Cambridge for 10 years, Everett for 20 years and Melrose for several years. Marie worked as Model & Makeup Specialist for Jordan March, as a Hostess for the Red Coach Grill and as a Bookbinder for Riverside Press in Cambridge for several years. She enjoyed good food, singing, going on cruises and shopping with her best friend the late Barbara Newlist. Marie loved to spend her time with her grandchildren & family. She was the beloved former wife of the late Plascido Ferdinand & Carl Winch. Loving mother of Frank P. Ferdinand & his wife Patty of FL and Robert D. Ferdinand & his wife Esther of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Devoted sister of Dorothy Sorrentino of Natick and predeceased by 4 brothers & 3 sisters. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, May 1st at 8:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
