Obituary

Marigrace, 86, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. A beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and devoted nurse, Marigrace's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her profession, and the countless lives she touched.

Marigrace's compassionate nature and expertise as a nurse at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary made a profound difference in the lives of her patients. Her commitment to her profession was matched by her academic achievements, holding a master's degree in Business and continuously inspiring those around her with her knowledge and dedication.

As a mother to five children—Erinn Knowles (married to Eddie Knowles), Horst Filtzer, Paul Filtzer (married to Rina Filtzer), Siobhan Mumford (married to Rich Mumford) and Caitlin Boyns—Marigrace was a pillar of strength and love. She instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and integrity.

Her eleven grandchildren—Aislinn, Keirnan, Haley, Madeline, Alexa, Sean, Teagan, Bebhan, Katelyn, Tristan, and Addison—were her pride and joy, each carrying a piece of her vibrant spirit.

She is also survived by her younger brother, Thomas Leo Knowles and his wife, Barbara Knowles.

Marigrace was a woman of many passions. She found joy in reading, knitting, cooking and watching TV, and her favorite place was the Cape, where she spent many happy moments surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and the warmth of family. Despite her small stature, her strong personality and larger-than-life presence were felt by everyone she met.

Marigrace's resilience and determination were a source of inspiration to us all. Though cancer took her from us, the memories and love she left behind will continue to guide and uplift us. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Rest in peace, Marigrace. Your love, strength, and unwavering spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

A private service and celebration of life will be held for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Marigrace's memory.
