Marilyn E. (McMillan) Eppoliti, of Melrose, passed away at Bear Mountain at Reading on March 16, 2024, at 77 years of age.
Marilyn was born to Phyllis McMillan (nee Venezia) and Robert McMillan (both born in Mass) in Revere, MA on August 7, 1946. She was the youngest of three children. Her older siblings, Robert McMillan, Jr. and Patricia McMillan (Fudge), both preceded her in death. Marilyn attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Revere, where she graduated in 1964.
Marilyn met her devoted husband of 55 years, Michael Eppoliti, while working at the First National Bank of Boston in 1964. The happy couple married on October 5, 1968, and had two children: Greg, born in 1973, and Jennifer, born in 1978. Marilyn was a stay at home mom for many years, dedicating her time to family, creating a loving welcoming home, and raising her children with love, compassion, and kindness.
Marilyn worked for the Melrose and Stoneham School Departments as a payroll clerk for 26 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, taking long rides with her husband, and visiting her daughter in Baltimore. She was an avid reader, a determined personality, and an animal lover.
Marilyn was also a loving grandmother of two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joshua, caring for them part time upon her retirement. She spent many hours watching them grow, reading to them, playing with them, and teaching them the joys of living.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Robert, her brother, Robert Jr., and her sister, Particia.
She is survived by husband Michael, son Greg, daughter-in-law Janet, grandchildren Elizabeth and Joshua, daughter Jennifer, and son-in-law Tommy.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
