Obituary

Marion P. (Steeves) Cerretani passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Thursday March 18th after a brief illness, she was 86. Marion was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and lived in Melrose before moving to Wakefield in 1965. Marion worked hard with her husband Orlando 'Joe' Cerretani in the 1940' & 1950's in the family supermarket business, that later became Cerretani's Supermarkets. Marion loved being a wife and mother to her family. She was renowned for her cooking ability and the preparation of favorite family recipes. Marion had hundreds of friends and was loved by all. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Melrose for her entire 86 years. Marion was a member and past president of the Women's Guild, instrumental in fund raising and very active bible studies at the church. She was a devout Christian true to her faith and admired by all. Marion was the beloved wife of the late Orlando 'Joe' Cerretani. Loving mother to three sons, Joseph S. Cerretani & his wife Betty of Cotuit, Robert W. Cerretani of Wakefield, Gary J. Cerretani & his wife Marie of N. Reading and her daughter Jan R. Flanagan & her husband Donald of Wakefield. Daughter of the late Harold & Christina (MacNeil) Steeves. Sister of the late Marjorie, Audrey & Harold Steeves. Grandmother of Ellen DeOrsey of Vt, Joseph Cerretani of Mansfield, Ingrid Cerretani of Wakefield, Gianni Cerretani of Lynn, Brandon & Lianna Flanagan of Wakefield. Great grandmother of Brianna, Brendan & Nicole DeOrsey and Courtney & Kyle Cerretani. Cousin of Barbara & Harold Hutchins of VT as well as numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St. Melrose, on Monday March 22nd at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sunday from 4-8PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 561 Main St. Melrose 02176. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
