Marjorie A. (Carine) Silva Benincasa passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. She was 70 years of age. Marjorie was born in Newton on October 12, 1942 to the late Alan J. & Margaret (Howe) Carine, was raised in Newton & Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1960 and attended Middlesex Community College. After raising her family she went on to work as a social worker for the State of Massachusetts from 1982-2002. She has been a resident of Melrose for many years and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Marjorie enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and going shopping. She was the wife of Edward Benincasa. Mother of Roy C. Silva of Gloucester and Barbara J. Niland & her husband John of Fremont, NH. Sister of Jane Hatfield of Reading, Marcia Martin of Reading, Mary-Lou McDonough of Lexington and Christine Cellucci of Ipswich. Grandmother of Holly, Virginia & Stacy. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 w. Foster St. Melrose on Friday, Sept. 6th from 10:30-11:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 12:00PM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend.
