Obituary

Marjorie E. "Margie" (Babcock) Dugas passed away at her home in Melrose on December 21, 2017. Margie was born and raised in Melrose and has lived in the same home for her entire life. She graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School and St. Mary's High School and then from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Margie was a member of the United States Cadet Nurses Corps during WWII. Mrs. Dugas worked as a registered nurse at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 8 years and then for Middlesex Fells Nursing Home on Martin Street in Melrose for 21 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church, a campfire leader, a CCD teacher, enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and was a talented seamstress. Margie loved animals especially her dog Sam. But above all she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Dugas was the beloved wife of the late Dennis J. "Duke" Dugas. Loving mother of Marie D. Morrow & her husband Steve of Everett, Audrey A. McMahon & her husband Michael of Billerica, Paula J. Dugas & her husband Lee Scarborough of Wells, ME, Gerard J. Dugas & his late wife Barbara, Sheila M. Dugas & Brian J. Dugas all of NH and the late Michael & Ellen Dugas. Former mother-in-law of Charles M. Koehler Sr. Cherished grandmother of Danielle, Kristina, Rebecca, the late Scott, Charles Jr., Michelle, Anne Marie & Thomas. Proud great grandmother of Andrea, Ryan, Emily, Samantha, Owen & Aiden. Caring sister of the late Marion F. Murphy. Dear friend & neighbor of Ellen Hutchins & the late Dodie Robertson. Also survived by her beloved dog Sam. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4:00-8:00PM. Procession from the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
