Marjorie F. (Rhodes) Garrant passed away at The Melrose Care Center on Sunday, December 31, 2006. She was 90 years old. Born in Boston, she was raised in Malden by her aunt & uncle, Charlotte & Harry C. Rhodes, Sr. She graduated from Malden High School, class of 1936. Mrs. Garrant worked as a bookkeeper at the Massachusetts Electric Company for 15 tears, retiring in 1970. She had resided in Melrose for the last 42 years. Mrs. Garrant loved her four children, enjoyed bowling with her neighborhood friends, craft shopping & ceramics. She was a selfless person, a great listener & confidant. Marjorie always had a kind word to say about others & was grateful for all the small simplicities of life. She loved music, playing the piano & banjo in her younger years. Her family would harmonize while cleaning up after dinner. She cherished life and held on when she could have chosen resistance during the early stages of Alzheimers. She just kept a smile on her face & didnt want to be a burden to anyone. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Garrant. Loving mother of Robert E. Garrant & his wife Susan of NH, Alfred H. & his wife Mary Lee also of NH, Claire L. Hurley of Melrose & the late Paul F. Garrant. Also survived by 7 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Caring sister of the late Harry C. Rhodes, Jr. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thurs., Jan. 4th at 10AM. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 11AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. from 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
