Marjorie R. (Holland) Hodgkins of Melrose, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at her home. She was 81 years old. Born on September 12, 1927 in Everett, MA to the late Arthur & Della (Pierce) Holland, she was raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School. Marjorie married Edwin L. Hodgkins in 1946 and they were residents of Melrose for a few years, moved to Milton, NH for 4 years and then returned to Melrose. She was a homemaker, enjoyed collecting antiques, especially depression glass and setting up a table at antique shows to sell things. Mrs. Hodgkins volunteered door to door for the March of Dimes in her neighborhood for many years. She was the devoted wife of the late Edwin L. Hodgkins with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Franklin C. Hodgkins & his wife Marlene of Dorchester & the late Elaine D. Hodgkins. Cherished grandmother of Edwin J. Fogarty & his wife Susan of NH, John Connolly, Christine Reynolds & her husband Brian, Lisa Mallard & her husband Ed. Great grandmother of Sean & Nicholas Fogarty, Amanda Astrofsky, Joe Flores & Jacob Reynolds, Shannon & Courtney Connolly & Edward & Corey Mallard. Caring sister of the late Renzel Hurd. Special mother-in-law of Cindy Fogarty of Saugus. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral Service in the Gately funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday, August 8th at 11AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9-11AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
