IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark David
Dustin
November 20, 1948 – August 11, 2025
Mark David Dustin, 76, of Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away on August 11, 2025, after an eight-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Born in Melrose on November 20, 1948, Mark was the youngest child of the late Arthur B. Dustin and Millicent M. (Hervey) Dustin.
For 51 years, Mark shared a beautiful life with his wife, Linda (Lavigna) Dustin. Together they raised two sons—Joseph Dustin and his wife Megan of Readington, NJ, and Michael Dustin and his wife Michelle of Melrose—who made him immensely proud. Mark's greatest joy came from being "Bup" to his five beloved grandchildren: Max, Natalie, Connor, Meredith, and Andrew. He was also a grateful uncle to Lu-ann Newcomb and many nieces and nephews. Mark was a loving brother to Freddy Dustin and Dottie Holland, and was predeceased by his siblings June, Bobby, Mary, Billy, Tommy, and Bruce.
A lifelong resident of Melrose, Mark graduated from Melrose High School in the Class of 1968. He went on to spend 40 dedicated years as a service technician with AM Multigraphics and Presstek. Beyond his career, Mark found joy in creativity and connection. In 1993, he began producing television programs with his sons through MMTV in Melrose. For over 30 years, under the name Wizbang Productions, they captured everything from local sports and professional wrestling to vintage car shows and local rock bands.
Mark's hands were rarely still—he loved building motorcycles and working on cars with his friends in "The GAR-OOP" of New Hampshire. He was a gifted artist, working with paint and clay, and a passionate cook who delighted in experimenting with different flavors, and ingredients - especially his famous baked stuffed shrimp around the holidays. He was an enthusiastic follower of IndyCar and Formula 1 racing, and he never passed up an opportunity to travel.
Mark and his family will be forever grateful for the compassionate care he received at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. To the nurses and support staff in "The Angels' Nest," Mark would simply say, from the heart—thank you for everything.
Above all, Mark was a family man. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, his answer was simple: "Dad." He was deeply involved in his children's lives—participating in Cub Scouts, camping trips, and little league coaching—and carried that same love and energy into being a grandfather. His grandchildren will forever treasure their memories of "Bup," whose warmth, humor, and love will live on in their hearts.
A Celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose, MA. from 9:00 A.M to 11:30 A.M, followed by a short service at 11:30 A.M In the Gately Funeral Home. Family & Friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
May Mark's memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
