Martha R. (Mazurkiewicz) Hook passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. She was 90 years old. Martha was born in South Boston, raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. She lived in Marblehead for over 10 years, Saugus for 5 years and Melrose the past 55 years. Mrs. Hook was a homemaker, a talented seamstress, enjoyed needle point and was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America and the Needle Point Guild of America. Martha and her late husband Al enjoyed spending winters in Dunedin, FL for over 20 years, where they belonged to the Dunedin Country Club and spent summers vacationing in Moultonboro, NH for over 15 years and belonged to the Bald Peak Country Club. Mrs. Hook was a member of the Melrose Garden Club, a former member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose and was a founding member of Incarnation Church in Melrose. She loved children, life, dancing, entertaining, music and had a wonderful sense of humor. Martha was the proud wife of the late Alfred E. Hook (One of the former owners of James Hook Lobster Co. of Boston). Loving mother of Carolyn T. Hook of Swampscott and Priscilla L. Hook of Melrose. Sister of Henry Mazurkiewicz of Salem & the late Stella Palmer. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Sat. Jan. 10th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited, Visiting hours Friday 4-8PM. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lynn.
