Mary B. (Phair) Kennedy, passed away at home, on April 20th, she was 85. Mary was born in Chelsea, raised in Revere and graduated from the Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1938. Mrs. Kennedy worked as a secretary at the Melrose Junior High School/ Melrose Middle School for 20 years, retiring in 1986. She has been a resident of Melrose since 1954, was a longtime member of St. Marys Church; where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and involved in St. Marys School PTA for many years. Mary served on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters; she volunteered on the area board for the Department of Mental Retardation for many years and was a member of the Backyard Gardeners. Mrs. Kennedy was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Kennedy. Loving mother of Maria B. Kennedy of CA, & Katherine P. Kennedy of Melrose. Caring sister of Thomas J. Phair, Jr. of Melrose & the late Robert C. Phair. Also survived by her cherished dog Maggie. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tues., April 25th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
