Mary A. (Shea) Bishop, of Melrose, died at the Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose on March 10, 2009 at the age of 97. Mary was born & raised in Winchester and a graduate of Winchester High School, Class of 1930. She resided in Winchester until 1939, Medford for 11 years and the past 59 years in Melrose. Mary was a member of the Incarnation Church in Melrose for over 50 years & was a founding member of the church, Melrose Catholic Women's Club and the Melrose Women's Club for many years. She was the beloved wife of John H. Bishop for 69 years. Loving mother of the late Edward J. Bishop. Mother in law of Susan Lane Bishop. Cherished grandmother of Carolyn Jussaume & her husband Richard of Acton, Mary Frances Josephson & her husband Mark of Melrose and Edward J. Bishop Jr. & his wife Pamela of Concord. Caring sister of the late Hilda Murphy, Catherine Bousquet, Frances Stokes, Dorothy Gill and Joseph Shea Jr. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 9:15AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10:30AM.
