Obituary

Mary (Hegarty) Bourque, of Melrose, died at the Meadowview Nursing Center in North Reading on December 30, 2012 at the age of 85. Mary was born & raised in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland and came to America at 20 years old. She resided in Melrose for 52 years and worked as a Supervisor for General Electric for many years. Mary was a devoted mother & grandmother who had a strong Irish faith and a "Joyful Laugh". She always had a kind word for everyone and loved to do the Irish Jig. Mary loved Irish dances and spending time with her family. She was the former wife of Dennis Bourque of New Mexico. Loving mother of Maureen M. Mann and her husband Brian of Nashua, NH; Donna M. Groark and her husband William of Melrose, Karen B. Casey and her husband Richard of Derry, NH; Cheryl A. Oosterman and her husband Robert of Melrose. Devoted grandmother of Erin, Megan, Shannon, Kate, Lauren, Andrew and Michael. Caring sister of Patrick, Michael & Kathleen Hegarty, Helen Kean and the late Thomas, James, Martin & John Hegarty. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday January 4th at 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to St. Mary's Church, 46 Herbert St., Melrose, MA 02176.
