Obituary

Mary Alice (O’Keefe) Corso, of Melrose, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at the age of 89, following a brief stay at Care One Rehabilitation Facility in Wilmington.

Born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Mary was a graduate of Chelsea High School. She spent over 65 years in Melrose, where she created a life rooted in love, family, and connection with those around her.

Mary had a gentle and caring nature, which she shared through her many years as a preschool assistant at the Melrose Nursery and Day School. She truly loved working with children and had a special way of making them feel safe and cared for. Outside of work, Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, taking walks, and spending time with friends. She enjoyed her time at the Jonathan Cochrane House, where she lived for more than 30 years and built many meaningful friendships.

Above all, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She was the beloved wife of the late Mathew J. Corso, and a loving mother to the late Matthew E. Corso and his wife Linda of Haverhill, Mark J. Corso and his wife Kim of West Newbury, and the late Maryann Corso of Melrose. She was the loving sister of the late Edward C. O’Keefe, the late Loretta M. Ellis, and Janet Young of Malden.

Mary was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jennifer Corso of Newton, NH, Mathew Corso of Groveland, MA, Bryan Corso of Groveland, MA, and Bridget Corso of Melrose, MA. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Cayden, Charlotte, Brynlee, Matthew and Layne who brought her immense happiness.

She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be private.
