Mary W. (Watts) Donovan of Andover, died on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 73 years old. Born on January 15, 1938 in Boston, she was a loving daughter to the late Harold F. & Mary R. (O'Brien) Watts. Mary was raised in Melrose and a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar & High Schools. She then graduated from Boston College and worked as an English teacher in the Swampscott School System for 5 years and the Chelmsford High School for over 30 years. She was an Andover resident for 30 years, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association & the Garden Club of Andover. Mary enjoyed traveling the United States and the World. She loved to spend time with her husband Fred, music at Tanglewood & trips to S. Harpswell, Maine. She was the devoted wife of the late Fredrick J. Donovan with whom they shared 37 years of marriage. She was the caring sister of Carol F. Watts of Waltham. Sister-in-law of Elizabeth Robinson & her husband William, & Diana Estes. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, August 2nd at 10AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday from 3-7PM. Interment will be private.
