Obituary

Mary F. (Fleming) Finn passed away at her home in Melrose, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Born in Revere, a daughter of the late Joseph J. & Margaret M. (Keating) Fleming, she was raised in Malden and a 1942 graduate of Malden High School. Mary went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Malden Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and worked on an Indian Reservation as a student nurse and then as the school nurse with the Malden School System in the Daniel, Glenwood & Maplewood Elementary Schools for 20 years. She was much loved by all her students and years later, her former students would approach her and tell how much they loved and appreciated her. Mary was devoted to her family and was a warm and patient person. She was a resident of Malden most of her life but spent the past 10 years in Melrose. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of Melrose, enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading and was an avid walker. Mrs. Finn was the devoted wife of James M. Finn of Melrose, with whom they shared 61 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Karen M. Keegan of N. Reading, Joyce A. Finn of Melrose & Paula M. LaVita of Wakefield. Cherished grandmother of Katie, Maggie, Jack, Lindsey, James & Courtney. Great grandmother of Fineas & Brendan. Caring sister of Edward Fleming of CA, Eleanor Reidy of Somerville & the late Joseph Fleming. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, January 17th with visiting hours from 9-11AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
