Mary C. (McAveeny) Galvin passed away at Forest Glen Adult Living Facility, in New Port Richey, on September 5, 2006. She was 97 years old. Mary was born in Ireland, came to the United States at the age of 15, she lived in Medford for a few years, Somerville for 50 years and the past 7 years in Florida. Mary worked as a pastry cook and then as manager of the high school cafeteria for 20 years for the City of Somerville. She was devoted to her family, a longtime member of St. Raphaels Church in West Medford and a member of the Senior Citizen Group at church, where she enjoyed taking trips with her friends. She wintered in Florida for many years in the West Palm Beach area and moved to New Port Richey several years ago. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Michael Galvin. Loving mother of Rose A. ONeil of N. Reading, Catherine T. Sheldon of New Port Richey, Fl, Ann M. Lattuca & her husband Russell of Wallingford, VT and Michael T. Galvin & his wife Paulette of Melrose. Sister of Rose Keaney & Bridget McAveeny of Ireland. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday Sept. 11th, at 7:45AM. Funeral Mass in St. Raphaels Church, 512 High St., Medford at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4-8PM.
