Obituary

Mary M. Gilmartin passed away at Oosterman Rest Home in Melrose, on Saturday, January 12, 2013. She was 94 years of age. Mary was born in Malden on November 28, 1918 to the late John & Delia (Gillis) Gilmartin. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School & St. Mary's High School and has been a lifelong resident. Miss Gilmartin worked as a secretary for the State of Massachusetts for over 25 years. Mary was longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose where she was a daily communicant and a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed taking trips to Ireland, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with family. She was the daughter of the late John & Delia (Gill) Gilmartin. Sister of Teresa Leary of Melrose, Agnes Hatfield of Saugus and the late Rose O'Rourke, James Gilmartin & Francis Gilmartin. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, January 16th, at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St. Melrose, MA 02176.
