Mary C. (Harrington) Gorvin passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on April 28, 2008. She was 82 years of age. Mary was born and raised in Beverly, graduated from Beverly High School and attended Essex Agricultural School. Mrs. Gorvin has been a resident of Melrose since 1949. She worked as a word processor for Stone & Webster in Boston for over 10 years. Mary also drove the van for Lollipop Lane Nursery School and for the Highlands Congregational Church Nursery School for many years. Mrs. Gorvin was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church and a former member of the Ladies Sodality at church. Mary was a devoted mother who loved to spend time with her family and loved to travel. Mrs. Gorvin was the beloved wife of the late Bernard J. "Joe" Gorvin Jr. Loving mother of M. Eileen Gorvin of Melrose, Betty (Gorvin) Onik of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Gorvin & his late wife Annette of Revere, the late Peter F. Gorvin & his wife Kim of Wakefield and Patty Singh & her husband Kinda of Nashua, NH. Grandmother of Casey, Emily & Allan Onik, Anna, Tony & Vinnie Pesce, Matthew & Michael Gorvin and Joseph P. Gorvin. Great grandmother of Jillian & Connor. Sister-in-law of Sr. Elizabeth Gorvin SHCJ & Sr. Marie Gorvin SHCJ both of PA. Also survived by 3 nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. May 3rd, at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8PM.
