Mary Patricia (Edwards) Guthro passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Dec. 13, she was 89. Mrs. Guthro was born and raised in Nova Scotia, came to Boston at the age of 21. Mary lived in Brighton & Quincy for several years and has been a resident of Melrose since 1959. She was a homemaker and a former telephone operator for the Boston Post for 10 years. Mrs. Gurtho was a member of St. Marys Church, a member of the Altar Guild at church and was an avid bridge player. She was the wife of the late Paul S. Guthro. Mother of David E. Guthro & his wife Jane of Framingham, Paula A. Ahern & her husband Donald of Melrose, John F. Guthro & his wife Shirley of Winthrop, Kathleen E. Comeau & her husband Charles of Naples ME, M Deborah McKeon & her husband Jeff of Amesbury and Paul G. Guthro & his wife Margaret of Newburyport. Sister of Elizabeth MacDougall of Nova Scotia. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Dec. 17th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
