Obituary

Mary Virginia "Jini" Hanley passed away at the Epoch Senior Care Center in Melrose. on November 7, 2007, she was 80 years of age. Virginia was born in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & High School as well as Boston College. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Department of Defense in Washington DC and in the Embassy in Germany for over 10 years. When she return to Melrose, Jini worked for Pan Am Airlines for over 15 years. While working at the airlines she traveled all over the world several times. Miss Hanley loved sports and enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, BC Eagles and was a Bruins season ticket holder for many years. After her retirement she enjoyed reading and writing; was an editor and member of the Silverstringers of Melrose and a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church. Virginia was a kind and gracious person who was very devoted to her brothers, nephew, nieces and grand nieces & nephews. She was the daughter of the late Neil & Mary (Sullivan) Hanley. Sister of the late Neil Hanley & James Hanley. Sister-in-law of Mary Camire. Aunt of Janice Taketa, Rosemary Kearney, Kathy Trainor, James Hanley and Mary Dion. Great aunt of Conor, Noreen, Patrick, Sheila, Jessica, Kanoa, Kerri, Bridget, Joseph, Colleen & Keani. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Sat. Nov. 10th at 10:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 11AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery will be private.
