Mary E. Kirk died peacefully at the New England Baptist Hospital on January 10, 2008, after a brief illness. She was 87 years of age. Mary was born in Medford and raised in Malden. She graduated from Girls Catholic High School, Class of 1938 and later from the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. She lived in Melrose for over 50 years. Mary worked as a pediatric nurse in the office of Dr. Albert Frank in Malden and at the Home For Little Wanderers in Boston. She also held many other nursing positions throughout her career of over 35 years. Mary was an avid reader, a wonderful pianist and a longtime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and Women's Guild in Wakefield. Daughter of the late Thomas J. & Mary V. (Lee) Kirk. Sister of Barbara Kirk of Melrose and Joan Tingle of CA and the late Margaret O'Brien, Elizabeth McBride and Claire Kirk. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, January 14th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10AM.
