Mary L. (Hardy) McGuire, 84 of Stoneham died peacefully surrounded by family on February 16, 2026 after a long illness. Mary was born November 26, 1941 in Somerville, MA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Ella Hardy. She was the loving mother to Joseph McGuire and wife Marlene McGuire of Manchester, NH, Mary Turner and her husband Scott Turner of Milton, MA, Maureen McGuire of Melrose MA, and the late Steven McGuire and Michelle McGuire both from Melrose MA. Devoted sister of Edward Hardy, Ellen Glovasky, Peggy Huckins, and the late Dennis Hardy and Michael Hardy. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Courtney Turner, Sydney Turner, Jason Turner, Zachary McGuire, Joseph McGuire Jr., Kaiya Williams, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mary’s zest for life was evident in her love for her family and friends, she treasured holidays and family gatherings and especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Mary was a proud member of the Melrose Emblem Club and the Red Hat Club. She retired after working 20 years for Verizon as a telephone operator. She was an animal lover, enjoyed playing bingo and visiting casinos. As we say goodbye to Mary we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of laughter, love, and an unwavering commitment to others. She will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness and love for family will endure forever.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Interment will be private. Family & Friend's respectfully invited to attend.
