Mary J. McCarthy died suddenly at home in East Boston Jan. 18th at the age of 55. She was born and brought up in Melrose, Graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & High School in Melrose. Mary lived most of her life in Melrose and the past 10yrs in East Boston. Mary worked as a medical transcriber for the N.E. Telephone Co. for over 30yrs and then for Mass. General Hospital for the past 5yrs. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery She was the daughter of the late Edmund & Gertrude (Turner) McCarthy. Sister of Edward T. McCarthy & his wife Shauna and Thomas McCarthy both of Melrose. Aunt of Edward M. McCarthy of Waltham and Amanda Jaggers of Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W.
