Mary E. "Betty" (Duffy) Morrissey passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. She was 82 years of age. Betty was born in Boston, on August 18, 1928 a daughter to the late John & Mary (Campbell) Duffy; she was raised in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School. Mrs. Morrissey was a homemaker and worked as a supervisor for a few years at Raytheon, prior to raising her family. Mary had been a resident of Melrose for 52 years, enjoyed summering in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia for over 50 years and loved her winter trips to Florida. Betty also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bingo and spending time with her family. The Morrissey Family would like to thank the entire staff at Massachusetts General Hospital for the wonderful care given to Betty. Mrs. Morrissey was the beloved wife of 55 years to Charles F. Morrissey. Loving mother of Betty Ann Jolly of Manchester, CT and Jean M. Dillon & her husband Joseph of Topsfield. Cherished grandmother of Katie & Patrick Jolly and Kerry & Laura Dillon. Also survived by several nieces & nephews and many wonderful close friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Sat. October 23rd at 8AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Betty's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-8:00PM.
