Mary E "Betty" (Kelliher) O'Neil passed away at Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Saturday May 11, 2013. She was 88 years young, born on September 9, 1924 in Malden, Ma. Betty was a lifelong parishioner of St Mary's Church and attended St Mary's Grammar and High School. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Upon graduation from High School she worked for The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. After raising her four children she worked at Blue Bell Cleaners, in Melrose, for many years. Betty was the beloved wife of the late James F. O'Neil Jr for 41 years. She was the beloved sister of the late Anne Dwyer also of Melrose. Devoted mother of Jean Marie O'Neil of Somerville, Kathleen Babcock and her husband Kevin of Auburn NH, Thomas O'Neil and his wife Suzann of Tyngsboro and James F. O'Neil III of Bedford NH. She was the loving and proud Nana of 6 Grandchildren, Matthew Babcock and wife Shaunna of New Boston NH, Jonathan Babcock and his wife Sarah of New Boston NH, Meagan and Zachary O'Neil of Milford NH, and Samantha and Shelagh O'Neil of Tyngsboro, MA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, May 16th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM.
