Shelfoon, Mary Catherine, June 4th, at age 93. Longtime resident of Brookline, Stoneham & Melrose. Born and raised in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Mary was the daughter of George Shelfoon and Margaret Ann Cameron: loving sister of Nesry Shelfoon and Joseph Shelfoon. Dear Aunt to Bonnie & Rich Ruggiero of Needham, Helen & Stuart Hamon and Karen Smith of Ontario, Canada. She served in WWII, in the Royal Canadian Womens Air Corps, stationed in Montreal transcribing Morse code. Thereafter she moved to Boston to attend art school, while employed at Arkwright Boston Mutual Insurance Company as an executive assistant, for over 30 years. She was a talented artist of landscapes and most especially of portraits and enjoyed many good years as a participating member of the Reading Art Association and St. Marys Church in Melrose. She was blest to live out her last days in her home, as was her wish, under the care of C. Lennox M.D., R. Fillmore, M. Small and local social services. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. June 7th, at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
