Mary T. (McGillicuddy) Slaney passed away at Boston Medical Center on May 23, 2007. She was 77 years of age. Mary was born in Boston, raised in Somerville and graduated from St. Johns High School in Cambridge. She lived in Danbury, CT for 5 years and Melrose for over 30 years. Mrs. Slaney worked as a keypunch operator for the Esso Oil Co. and then for Mobil Oil Co. for over 15 years. She also worked as a waitress at the Boston Pops for 15 years. Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, sister & grandmother who enjoyed crocheting. She was a member of St. Jospehs Church in Wakefield. Beloved wife of John F. Slaney. Devoted mother of John Slaney & his wife Jennifer of Billerica & Stephen J. Slaney & his wife Stacy of Lynnfield. Sister of Patricia Connolly of Melrose. Sister-in-law of Linda McGillicuddy of Somerville & Steve Connolly of Melrose. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and many nieces & nephew. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday May 29th at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Family & friends can gather at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30AM prior to the mass. Interment in VA National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
