Mary M. (Graham) Spagnolo, of Melrose, died peacefully on May 21, 2015. Mary was born in Somerville, MA on February 27, 1928 to two Irish immigrants, William and Nora (O'Sullivan) Graham. She was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School and was a member of the Old School Girls Association in Charlestown. Mary married Mario E. Spagnolo and the two settled down in Melrose in 1956. In addition to being a mother to Charlie and the late Sally, Mary worked at Western Union for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant. Mary had a great sense of humor and loved spending time socializing with friends, whether it was with her coffee group at the Irish shop in Melrose, or with the girls at the 12 Mt. Vernon St. condos. Mary was very active member of St. Mary's Parish in Melrose, being a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Sodality as well as volunteering at the Church. Mary also spent time volunteering at Servant's Heart Food Pantry. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Even making trips to a family cottage in Marshfield. Mary would often pass the time knitting and also crocheted in her spare time. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Mario E. Spagnolo. Loving mother of Charles Spagnolo and his wife Marie of Saugus, and the late Sally DeAngelo and her husband Peter of Medford. Proud grandmother of Richard, Robert and Grace. Cherished Aunt of Kathleen Jacobson, Marirose Graham and Katherine Graham. Also survived by four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 2-6 PM at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday May 26th, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose. Interment immediately following the Mass at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose, MA 02176.
