Obituary

Matthew E. Corso, a retired Melrose Firefighter and Army Veteran, passed away at his home in Groveland, on December 14, 2021, at the age of 64. Matthew was born in Chelsea, raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1975. Matt entered the US Army right after high school and served his country with pride during the Vietnam War. After he was discharged from the U.S. Army, he started Corso Plumbing & Heating Company in 1984 which he ran for many years. The company is now run by the second generation, his son Bryan. Mr. Corso joined the Melrose Fire Department on June 29, 1994 and retired on December 31, 2012. While on the department he was on Ladder One for many years before retiring from Company Engine 3 on East Foster Street. Matthew was a resident of Groveland since 1995, was always happy, had a big smile, loved football, the New England Patriots, fishing and dogs. But above all he loved spending time with his family and his grandson Cayden. Matthew was the beloved husband of Linda (Perrotti) Corso. Loving father of Jennifer M. Corso & her wife Laura Corso of Haverhill and Bryan M. Corso and his significant other Brittany Arriel of Groveland. Devoted son of Mary (O'Keefe) Corso of Melrose and his late father Matthew Corso. Proud grandfather of Cayden Corso. Cherished brother of Mark Corso & his wife Kim of West Newbury and the late Maryanne Corso. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 2:00-5:00PM, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home on Monday, December 20th at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
