Maureen A. (Doherty) Griffin of Somerville, formerly of Melrose & Everett, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. She was 68 years old. Raised in Melrose, Maureen graduated from St. Mary's High School in Melrose and continued her education at secretarial school. She then pursued her career as a legal secretary. Maureen also worked at Mals Market in Malden and as a home health aide for Mystic Valley Elder Services for many years. Maureen gathered friends through her life with her great contagious laugh and warm, welcoming smile. She had many friends at her apartment complex in Somerville that will miss her greatly. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was the beloved daughter of the late Bernard L. & Margaret (McGinn) Doherty. Devoted sister of Katherine Murphy of NH, Barbara Rafuse of FL, Joanne Buckley & her husband Paul of New Orleans, Patricia Doherty of NH, Richard Doherty & his wife Krys of Saugus & the late Alice Doherty & Stephen Doherty Also survived by 4 nieces, 4 nephews & 9 grand nieces & nephews. A graveside service to celebrate Maureen's life will be held at the Wyoming Cemetery, Sylvan St., Melrose on Monday, Nov. 14th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
