On July 3, 2024, Maureen A. McSweeney (affectionately known as Moe and MoMo) of Melrose, formerly of Everett, received her angel wings after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Maureen's quiet kindness, unwavering dedication to family, and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maureen was born to the late John and Mary (Walsh) McSweeney of Everett. She is survived by her devoted brothers, Michael (Judy) of Arlington and John (Sheila) of Canton. Her legacy lives on through her cherished nieces and nephews: Julie Curti, Sarah Pierson, Michael Cicerone, John McSweeney Jr., Michael McSweeney, and David McSweeney, along with eight grandnieces and grandnephews who adored her. Maureen also leaves behind many loving cousins in Ireland and England.

Maureen's professional career was spent in the petroleum credit industry, where she worked with dedication and integrity for companies such as Gibbs Oil, BP Oil, Bursaw Oil, Astroline Oil, Quincy Oil, and most recently, Catamount Management Corporation. She was a proud graduate of Cardinal Cushing Central High School in South Boston and Northeastern University. Maureen was also an active member of the American and Eastern Petroleum Credit Associations and a former member of The Makusue Ski Club.

Beyond her professional achievements, Maureen's life was rich with personal passions. She was an enthusiastic aerobics participant, forging many lasting friendships through her fitness community. Her love for Broadway shows and sharing meals with family and friends brought joy to those around her. Known for her special kind of quiet kindness, Maureen was always ready to help others, placing the needs of her family and friends above her own.

Visiting hours will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose, from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. The burial will be private.
