Michael Albert Chiaradonna, lovingly known as “Mike” passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 80. His warmth, wit, and unmistakable laugh leave behind a silence deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Born on May 20, 1945, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Mike spent much of his life in Lynn, Saugus, and Melrose. He attended Lynn High School before earning his degree in science from Northeastern University in 1976. Mike dedicated many successful years to the automotive industry as a regional manager with Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2013 after a respected and accomplished career.
In the final chapter of his life, Mike found profound happiness alongside his beloved wife, Maria E. Zapata. Together they created a home in Middleton, filled with laughter, devotion, and treasured moments shared with family. Mike carried himself with generosity and charm, and he will be remembered for the joy he brought into every room, his quick sense of humor, and the genuine kindness he extended to others.
He is survived by his loving sister, Donna M. LaBonte; his niece, Linda A. Burke; and his nephew, Joseph LaBonte. Mike was a devoted stepfather to Claudia Daza and to Gina Daza and her husband, Felipe Sabogal. He was a proud and loving Nonno to Antonio Sabogal and Nicholas Escarria, who brought him immense joy.
Mike was predeceased by his former wife, Jane Forrest of Melrose, who passed away in 2017; his younger brother, John Chiaradonna; and his parents, Elena J. Chiaradonna (Colella) and John A. Chiaradonna.
A man of curiosity and depth, Mike had a remarkable passion for history, art, and classical music. He was a gifted storyteller and an avid automobile enthusiast who proudly built his own car in his younger years. Summers in Ogunquit brought him great happiness, where he found peace in the ocean air, the rhythm of the waves, and time spent with those he loved over Italian food dinners by the shore. His faith was also a guiding presence throughout his life, and he remained a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Parish.
Mike’s legacy lives on in the countless memories shared by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the laughter, wisdom, and love he gave so freely.
