Michael J. "Mike" Barresi, of Melrose, died on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was 85 years old. Born on May 27, 1924 in Revere, he was one of 8 children to the late Francesco & Catarina (Nolfo) Barresi. He attended Revere Public Schools and trade school then he enlisted in the Navy and served our country proudly during World War II as a Seabee. After the war, Mr. Barresi was a self-employed hardware store owner in Waltham, an electrical supply store in Allston, a deli in Medford and finally worked with Ace Hardware of Stoneham, retiring when he was 80 years old. He was a resident of Melrose for 53 years and a member of the Incarnation Church of Melrose. Mike enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing cards, family times and staying at home with his wife. He was the devoted husband of Camille M. (Belmonte) Barresi, with whom they shared 63 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Michael S. Barresi & his wife Betty of Malden & Paul Barresi & his companion Michele Nute of E. Hampstead, NH. Cherished grandfather of Sheryl A. Barresi of Dracut, Michael S. Barresi, Jr. & his wife Courtney of Peabody, Amanda E. Barresi of Wakefield, Alicia E. Mann & her husband Aaron of Dracut & David P. Barresi of Wakefield. Great grandfather of Chloe E. Mann & Ava C. Barresi. Caring brother of 7 deceased siblings. Funeral Service in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, March 17th at 10AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose with Navy Military Honors.
