Michael J. Binari, of Melrose, died at his home surrounded by his family on Dec. 13, 2014 at the age of 90. Michael was born & raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools. He went on to Peterson School of Steam Engineering and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Michael worked as a Stationary Engineer for Boston Sausage Co. in Boston and Research Foods in Somerville for many years before his retirement. He resided in Somerville for many years, Melrose since 1962 and wintered in Clearwater, Fl. Michael enjoyed both fishing & deep sea fishing and spending time at both Nahant & Hampton beaches. He loved to travel to Hawaii, Branson, MO and New Orleans, was a great handyman that could fix almost anything and enjoyed helping his family & friends. Michael was a great family man and they were the most important part of his life. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucy (Rossi) Binari for over 50 years. Loving father of Michael F. Binari & his wife Linda of Peabody, Linda Viator & her husband Gene of Gloucester and Steven J. Binari & his wife Denise of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of James, Mark, Steven, Brian and Michael. Devoted great grandfather of Evan, Sophia and Brody. Caring brother of Angelina Brutti & her husband Arthur of Watertown and the late Charles Binari. Longtime companion of Leona Verrengia of Saugus. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, Dec. 17th at 11 AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
