Michael Stuart Coburn passed away after a long and courageous battle with Huntington's disease at the Tewksbury Hospital, on Sunday, August 26, 2012. He was 61 years of age. Michael was born in Springfield, Vermont, moved to Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1970. He lived most of his life in Melrose and worked as a systems technician at the Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge for over 20 years. Mr. Coburn was a great Dad who loved to play basketball with his children, was an avid reader and was a Boston Sports fan. Michael was the close friend and former husband of Patricia A. (Horgan) Coburn. Loving father of Heather M. Coburn, Jennifer L. Coburn and Michael P. Coburn all of Melrose. Grandfather of Mekhi, Cadence and DeAndra. Brother of George, Andrew, Stephen, Linda, Sally, Debbie, Susan and the late Brian, Dennis, Janice and Judy. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
