Michael L. DelRossi passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on August 30, 2012 at the age of 69. Michael was born in Winchester, MA on June 23, 1943 to the late Michael S. & Rita M. (Toussaint) DelRossi and was the grandson of the late Antonio & Julia (Bennedetto) DelRossi. A lifelong resident of Wakefield, he was raised in the same house as his parents and grandparents; he graduated from Wakefield High School and entered the US Army. Michael served in the US Army as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. He worked as a fork lift mechanic for Independent Lift Truck Service and then for Quality Lift Truck Service in Woburn for many years. In his younger years Mr. DelRossi enjoyed playing the base in a local band, liked playing bocce and was a member of the Crystal Community Club in Wakefield. Michael loved to ride his Harley Davidson, enjoyed traveling up to his camp on Square Pond in Acton, Maine; where he liked to go four wheeling and taking trips out on the pond in his pontoon boat. He was the former husband of Sharon K. (Whitaker) DelRossi. Father of Michael S. DelRossi & his former wife Colleen of Wakefield, Steven A. DelRossi & his wife Christine of Dracut, Nicki Darisse & her husband Brian of Pelham, NH and Shawn DelRossi & his wife Donna of Methuen. Grandfather of Michael, Kayla, Amber, Scott, Danielle, Ashley, Montana & Grace. Brother of the late Kenneth DelRossi. A Funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Sept. 7th at 8:45AM. A Funeral Mass to follow at St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
