On March 14, 2024 Michael James Garrity, 72 of Newburyport, MA passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

He was born and raised in Salem, MA and later Newburyport, MA. He went to St. Peter's High School in Gloucester, MA where he was president of his class. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Boston College and earned a bachelors degree in Marketing. He was always very proud of his Alma mater and a huge BC Eagles fan.

After college he worked for Eastman Kodak for 6 years. With this job he was able to travel with his wife and live all over the country from Texas to California to New York. Michael later returned to Massachusetts and started his own successful business, Garrity Packaging Associates.

Michael spent most of his free time with his family at his vacation home in Wells, Maine. He enjoyed going to the beach, going on nature walks and fishing with his five children. He adored his family and his pets. Michael loved watching football and the news. He had a great sense of humor and always had a story or a joke to tell. Some of his favorite memories were of his many trips to Florida and Disney with his family. Michael will be greatly missed, but never be forgotten.

Michael leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia (Giangrande) Garrity. He also leaves behind his daughter Christalee (Garrity) Pellegrino and her husband Domenic Pellegrino of Reading, MA, his son Michael James Garrity II of Medford, MA, his son Jason Garrity and his wife Maggie Garrity of Portland, ME, his son Andrew Garrity of Newburyport, MA, and his son Ryan Garrity of Newburyport, MA. He also leaves behind his two beloved grandchildren Alexa and Domenic. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Stephanie (Lebiedz) Garrity.
