Michael J. McLaughlin, of Peabody, passed away on September 28th, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born in Winthrop, Ma on July 10, 1950. Michael was a Purple Heart Vietnam Veteran with the United States Marine Corps. After the war, he would continue his service as a police officer for the City of Revere for many years.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Jean M. (Decoste) McLaughlin. Father of Richard McLaughlin and his wife Kim of Revere, and Jennifer Cassidy and her husband George of New Hampshire. Proud grandfather of Richard, Tyler & Major McLaughlin, Ellie & Cora Cassidy, and Sarah Chiaradonna. Great Grandfather of Arthur & Quintan Chiaradonna. In addition to his own children Michael was the loving step father to his late wife Jean's six children, caring grandfather to twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Michael was an exceptional brother to Patty (Jim) Larson, Bill (Sue) McLaughlin, brother in law to Bob Petrella and was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his sister Janice Petrella.

Visiting Hours will be held from 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at the Gately Funeral Home. Burial with military honors to follow the service at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, 185 Lake St., Peabody.
